Description

Mala Junta (Bad Influence), film recently released and already recipient of excellent critic, nominations and awards From acclaimed Mapuche director Claudia Huaiquimilla, produced in Spanish and Mapudungun (the language of the Mapuche people) with English subtitles.
The film is a reflection of the ongoing Mapuche conflict portrayed through the friendship and solidarity of two young boys as well as the analysis of social prejudices, unspoken family stories and the violent daily routine of a community threatened by the actions of big corporations. Mala Junta shows the universal conflict between Indigenous Peoples and the prevailing view of progress.
A rebellious teenager, Tano, is sent to southern Chile into the disciplinary care of the father he hasn't seen in years. Trying to avoid his father’s discipline, Tano meets Cheo, a shy young boy who is bullied at school because of his indigenous origins. The strange death of a Mapuche leader unleashes a spree of violence in the area that brings Tano and Cheo into an unlikely friendship as they confront the prejudices around them. Their involvement in the struggle alongside the Mapuche community will transform them
